hey yc… so sorry to hear you’re going through this rough patch. dunno if this helps, but my usual phrase for self-consolation is -

when you’re self-sufficient (emotionally, financially, etc), what do you really need anyone for? or one single person for? the key question is, what can they/he/she/whoever do for you, that you cant do for yourself?

easier said than done of course, but cheer up babe.. it’s true that time heals all wounds, scars remain but they’ll fade in time and remind us not to repeat mistakes again.

My ex called the other day. To wish me happy birthday. And I felt like I missed her again, and all the emotions kept coming back. And for a moment, I kept thinking that we could get back together again. Because ultimately, you were both together at a point, and it was happy.

But you know. You can’t go back, once you realize why you broke up in the first place.

I feel I learnt a lot from her. It’s just that, it shouldn’t have been learnt in such a painful way.

That’s debatable, on the account of why u both broke up in the 1st plc though. Given some breathing space to grow, discover what you want in life and be a better person, there’s always a possibility that perhaps u could rekindle your love for each other along the way & share a rship that’s stronger than before. Or…you could come to realize that the person is no longer who u want as your partner anymore.

you’ll never learn if you don’t go thru it the hard way. that’s what he thought me.

Quite true, it is debatable on a case by case basis. In my case it definitely applies though. She was..evil & manipulative. But when she wasn’t she was pretty cute lah, haha!

So you’re thinking of getting back together with him? Just some thoughts…It’s very tempting to reflect, and most of the time if you start remembering again, its just the good parts. As the brain instinctively blocks out painful or unpleasant memories…just don’t confuse it for reality and make your decisions based on that.

Good luck finding yourself, but don’t discount potential relationships just because you don’t want to be on a rebound…
